Behind the Curtain
A password, a curtain, and a bell to ring.
Long before curtains were charming, they were practical. During Prohibition, a password got you into the back room of Lusco's Grocery — a curtained booth, drawn shut, with a bell of its own to call the waiter when you were ready. No table in view of another, no questions asked.
The booths became the signature of the house. Today, in the new Taylor dining room, the fixtures — carried over from the original Greenwood building — still wait behind the curtain, bell and all.
Some traditions aren't for reinventing. They're for carrying forward.
